What do you do?

At North Street Supply, the importance of longevity and quality in restaurant furniture is never underestimated. With over ten plus years of experience, expertise, and service in the food and hospitality industry, North Street Supply strives to exceed our client’s expectations. It is our belief that our clients deserve the highest quality tables, bases, and seating at the most affordable price along with a swift turnaround time. We also take extreme pride in our environmentally friendly approach, the fact that we are ethically produced and that we manufacture all of our products in the United States.

North Street Supply is also committed to giving back to our community in very real and tangible ways, which is why we plan to partner with organizations like The Furniture Bank of Ohio where a portion of our profits will go to families in need. In the highly competitive world of restaurant dining, an establishment’s décor and comfort are as highly regarded as its food and service - sometimes even more so. A restaurant’s look and feel set the stage for an enjoyable time for its guests, which translates into a profitable time for its owners. At North Street Supply, we keep these thoughts at the forefront of our minds through our selection of stylish, comfortable, high-quality restaurant furniture. We feature a wide variety of American hardwood and metal chairs and barstools, as well as tabletops and bases that work well with current design trends and fit in with any color scheme. In addition, our furniture can be customized with your choice of finishes and materials.

We truly care about our customers and find it important to thoroughly understand the restaurant concepts we work with. As a result, during the initial planning and discovery phase, we perform a face-to-face in-the-field meeting or virtual tour of the space. We use what we learn in these meetings to gain a deeper understanding of how we can elevate our customer experience, and then manufacture products to exact specifications. When it’s time for the products to make their way to you, we handle delivery and even offer a white glove service to install your pieces. We strive to make every experience as seamless and stress-free as possible. Our vision: Everyone in the world has enjoyed a meal gathered around one of our tables.

What inspired you to start your business?

It is our belief that our clients deserve the highest quality tables, bases, and seating at the most affordable price along with a swift turnaround time.

What have been the high and low points of being a business owner?

The highs are our relationships with our customers because it is our belief relationships make the business succeed. Next, would be creativity, we have the ability to run our business as we see it. There is no box to fit into if that makes sense. And if we do make a box, then we can break it just as easily. Now to the lows, hours because we are never truly "off the clock", failure ( paying for lessons- many times!), our salary is often dependent upon the success of North Street Supply. In a short time, we have experienced a lot of volatility in business financials, so it’s important to learn to manage our numbers—and our emotional state during the worldwide pandemic. Nonetheless, we are running down our vision, not a paycheck, therefore, we are confident we will see a successful business.

What's great about my mentor?

Beverly Sturm, our SCORE mentor has been a listener, challenger, connector, and guide through our entrepreneurial journey. In the beginning, it was exciting to start something on our own, however, the reality is that, although we had a great idea, we did not really know what was involved in running a business, including making a business plan, budgeting, making strategic decisions or running a marketing campaign. With Beverly there from the start, we tapped into a wealth of knowledge that got us up to speed faster and shortened that learning curve. Love the SCORE booklet on how to write a proper business plan! Great tool!

What advice would you give to someone thinking of starting a small business?

Absorb everything, be the solution, keep it simple, and know yourself and your business. Finally, believe in yourself. When you believe in yourself more than anyone believes in you, you're on your way! We are our biggest fans and our hardest critic!

What have you learned from your experiences as a business owner?

It is not always, there are bound to be challenges, however, there is nothing more rewarding than the success that follows hard work!
